Procura+ Awards finalists unveiled

3 August 2020

The jury of the 2020 Procura+ Awards, which recognise excellence in sustainable public procurement, has revealed this year’s eight finalists.

In the category of ‘Sustainable Procurement of the Year’, the Regional Council of the Brittany Region (France) – with its sustainable construction of a new school building– will compete with KAMP C, Flanders (Belgium) for pushing the boundaries in circular construction of office buildings.

The City of Koprivnica (Croatia) is up against Procura+ Participant Malmö (Sweden) for the ‘Innovation Procurement of the Year’ Award. Koprivnica used an innovation partnership for the selective demolition and renovation of a Kindergarten building. Malmö wanted to improve its ICT purchases in terms of sustainability and ethics as well as innovation and entered a framework contract with an ICT purchaser.

The ‘Outstanding Innovation Procurement in ICT’ Award will either go to BIG (the federal Austrian real estate agency) for their innovation partnership to develop app-based facility management software, or to the FABULOS Project, for their Pre-Commercial Procurement project of automated vehicles for public transport.

Finally, Procura+ Participant Haarlem (the Netherlands) and BBG – the Federal Austrian Procurement Service – are competing for ‘Procurement Initiative of the Year’. The Dutch city applied with its initiative to promote collaboration with its contractors to achieve the City’s goals for circularity and social inclusion. BBG convinced the jury with its merger of the federal innovation and sustainability procurement competence centres.

The Procura+ Awards ceremony will take place on October 1st at Conference “Environmental Aspects in Public Procurement in Europe”, organised by the German Environment Agency.
